No that is NOT a typo.. The HSUS and PETA people are having a field day in several state legislative bodies across the country. They have garnered dim witted politicians who are looking for some free press and are trying to appear politically correct by endorsing poorly written bills concerning animal welfare. These efforts are really stinking up the place, but what can you expect from a thinly veiled attempt to deny Americans the right to have and own their companion animals?
The AR movement has become very good in fooling the public, My hero; Will Rogers once said" You can fool some of the people some of the time but Not all of the people all of the time!" I just wonder how long it is going to take the American public to wake up and stop this madness.
The HSUS and PETA claim to have roughly 2 million supporters, Compared to over 200 million people who have and own companion animals. In other words 60.0% of all American households have a animal of some kind on the property.
These people claim there is a pet over population problem, roughly 1 to 2 % of the animal population is homes in any given year, while 7.0% of the people in this country are homeless on any given day. (There are a lot more people than dogs and cats.) Based on these people the HSUS and PETA, should we start killing off people to end this problem as well?
These people claim the problem is breeders, while over 80.0 % of the homeless animals are not purebred dogs. But they want to hurt the breeding industry with restrictive legislative measures, ill respective of the fact there already is the "Federal Animal Welfare Act", in place.
The HSUS and PETA people, say do not buy a dog from a pet Store, or from the Newspaper, or from the Internet, They are working to pass mandatory Spay and Neuter Laws so there won't be any backyard breeders. But they do promote in person visits (knowing well a good breeder would never allow this, that is a bunch of people tramping around on their property bringing God on knows what diseases with them)
I guess we all are going to have to suffer through this period of "being stupid". Get ready America you are going to see $ 5000.00 Cocker Spaniels real soon.

Advocate Asks Asheville Mall to Send PETA Packing
January 10, 2008
1 page via fax: 828-298-5096
Dear Mr. Mann:
I am writing to you on behalf America's Pet Owners and our more than 200 million supporters worldwide about the fact that you currently have a pet store, Pet Luv, in your mall. Pets "companion animals" are and have been the life blood for many people of all walks of life since the beginnings of time.
Most people have cherished memories of the days and experiences they have had with their dogs and pets. Sadly there are mean spirited people in the world who wish to deny, you, your children and grand children the opportunity own and love a companion animal.
Recently there has been a wave of terrorist activities sponsored by PETA and the HSUS designed to frighten and bully pet store owners, other persons of interest, and the suppliers of Puppies and Kittens. We encourage you not to be frightened by the tactics of PETA or any other organization, you and your lessee has the right to conduct lawful business without being fearful of interference by any special interest group.
Most puppies sold in pet stores come from legal federally licensed and inspected facilities that use the very best state of the art animal husbandry and facility management techniques. We do however encourage Pet Store owners to keep their facilities clean and aggressively disinfect each pen after use to protect the next puppy from any health problems. We also encourage all Pet Store Owners to only buy from within the federal commercial supply system, buying outside of the system can allow animals to arrive not in perfect health and may bring unwelcome diease to the property.
Pet Stores having Puppies for people to buy, enjoy and love in their homes is as American as Apple Pie. With the increase in zoning laws and various property usage laws we are seeing the breeders are further away from cities making it almost impossible for urban families to find a dog of their choice.
PETA and HSUS would like for you to think, professional breeders are heartless monsters, And since most breeders are to busy in their day to day activities of caring for their animals, you won't see many letters supporting their business interests. They just don't have the time....
The opponents to pet ownership will say and do anything to advance their cause, this has been proven time and time again. A reasonable person without having any experience in raising animals knows that if a animal is not cared for properly they will not have babies successfully, without successful litters the breeders would not be able to stay in business. Simple as that. Without question there has been facilities who have been operated poorly and we do not support their actions nor should you.
The PETA people and the HSUS always claim there is a pet over population problem, all the while the ASPCA imports thousands of dogs monthly from South America to have dogs for people to adopt. You see it is actually about money and market share. And your local shelter, which by the way receives no money from PETA or the HSUS, sees a number of dogs that are simply put Mutts. People who buy purebred dogs do not raise Mutts and they offer as a rule the very best care for their family member. Less than 20.0% of the dogs arriving at the shelters are purebred and the few if any are ever put to sleep as owners will quickly recover their pet once having learned of their capture. (The large majority of purebred dogs are micro chipped so the owners can be contacted) In total over 50.0% of all dogs arriving at the shelters are either adopted, rescued by breed specific organizations or picked up by their owners. Remember fewer than 20.0% of the total are purebred dogs, so there are an addition 30.0% of the Mutt class animals being adopted by someone.
Don't be swayed b a slick video where conditions are not known to actually exist, We have discovered these people will use pictures over 20 years old or staged and stories that are classified as urban legends. Our favorite: "Is the one where the breeder kills his old dogs and uses them for dog food."
You need to let the PETA people know that they have "No Rights" to interfere with your right to do business with whomever you please. Besides you already know that you cannot cancel a lease without cause.
We want you to know we are supportive of you and your tenant, hopefully both of you will have a long and happy relationship.
Sincerely

Virginia Seems to be Asleep at the Switch
In recent months the State of Virginia, has become increasingly under attack for problems created by the HSUS in a media blitz. The HSUS conducted a so called under cover investigations, although they no have authority to go to anyone's property, with the intent on disrupting breeding enterprises. A Direct Violation of Federal Law, by the way.
Their reports or (should we call it for what is was) terrorizing and plundering of private business and private property was strangely not responded to by the good citizens, the breeders, dog fancy or by "anyone" in Virginia. The once thought key state of American Rights, has some how fallen asleep, and has allowed the citizens of Virginia become victims of out of state terrorist groups. Hey is there anyone at home?
This is such a pitiful state, not having the courage to stand up and deal with terrorist on their on soil. I suppose in the near future someone will come along and inspect the homes in Virginia and if not found to be large enough or clean enough they will seize their children and their belongings.
And based on the failure to react in Virginia the people in Virginia will just tuck their tails and accept it.
On to a larger focus is; Just where is the Federal Government? Clearly we have failures in two agencies the USDA and the FBI, oh... I almost forgot The federal prosecutors are from Virginia and they like the citizens have no backbone to stand up to tyranny, just a bunch of suits taking home a paycheck.
I have not lost site of the issue and the issue is our "American Rights" as provided by the Constitution. We also have laws on the books for the welfare of animals, and the government has failed in it's mandate from Congress to uphold the laws. Upholding laws as provided for by law,... and we as American have the right to due process and we also have the protection of the courts against unlawful search and seizure. We have "Specific Laws" that prohibit anyone..from interfering with a animal breeding facility. So the FBI has or is failing in it's Mandate from Congress as well.
We are calling on the FBI to Arrest and Prosecute all people and organizations involved with this latest round of terror. We are calling on Congress to insist the USDA do it's job and if and where conditions are found to be unacceptable with the Animal Welfare Act, act on it legally and proper.
As an American you should be sending a tidal wave of Faxes and letters to your State Representatives and Federal Elected Congressmen and women and Senators calling for action in Virgina. Don't sit on your hands, put your hands to work with paper and pen.
They maybe coming for you next..
If need be just copy this article and send to your representatives and sign it.
Fax it emails do not deliver the physical presence of a letter or fax.

Fighting Puppy Mills Full-Force
By: Wayne Pacelle
http://hsus.typepad.com/wayne/2007/12/puppy-mill-hsus.html#more
Mr Pacelle, the President of the HSUS has been so kind to outline the HSUS attack positions on many issues as they close out the year. Many of those activities have drawn our attention and review of some of the press releases we have found to be unfair and somewhat embellished.
Anytime we have people involved in animal issues passion and emotions run high, there are several aspects. without exception, where the average person finds distasteful or just down right wrong. We ourselves are no exception to this emotional roller coaster. But unlike the HSUS and PETA or what we call the purest of the AR movements we recognise the need for animals and the benefits they have provided to the human race.
And we do agree there are areas that do need improvement. However we do disagree with the methods the HSUS have elected to use.
The underlying push seems to be the HSUS hates people, disturbing in context but mounting a campaign of hate towards any group of people is not the way any organization or cause can win the hearts and minds of people. The HSUS likes to say one (1) out of every thirty (30) people are supporters of the HSUS. So if these are truthful numbers, we can safely say based on the HSUS that Twenty-nine (29) out of Thirty (30) people do not support the actions of the HSUS. These guys could not win an election for dog catcher with these numbers. I guess since we are focused on dog issues the comparison is a good one.
In the matter of dogs in all venues there are without a doubt people who do very poor jobs in the care and operation of their facilities. The fault of the HSUS position is to attack breeders of all kinds and lay the blame of over population if it even exists, on breeders (Kind of like Al Gore's, Global Warming).
It seems that without exception if you have a problem with a dog, the HSUS has decided that it is the breeders fault. The facts of the matter are when looked at pragmatically we see there are problems with our dog population, however, breeders are not responsible for all of them.
As an example:
1. Pet over population as reported by shelters. Roughly 80.0% of the dogs in shelters are not purebred dogs. Breeders do not breed Mutts, I often wonder where do these dogs come from?
2. The remaining 20.0% or the dogs are purebred dogs and they all at one time have been owned by someone somewhere. Now unless all these dogs are the result of some ownership redistribution plan of the HSUS or other AR organization, we can safely assume that individual owners are to blame for the presence of these dogs.
To Summarize the problem, I would think it is safe to say 95.0% of all dogs falling into the care of the shelters is the direct result of individual owners failing in their responsibilities. Not Breeders.
The Spay and Neuter programs would do little or nothing in as far as impacting the shelter population, since people who let their dogs run loose and breed when ever or where ever, probably would not be the same people who have purebred dogs and follow the law. There is no reason to assume that if a law to spay or neuter a dog was in place people who don't license or manage their animals now would suddenly become responsible owners.. I don't think human nature works that way.
I am getting a little off the subject of Wayne's article, God love him... He has directed his people to go after "all" breeders and calls everyone a "Puppy Mill".
Now that is so wrong, and really misguided, but we both know that if we don't make headlines the contributions will fall off. I personally and a little suspicious the real agenda here is to improve funding, they have a lot of stuff going on and trying to go in so many directions must be a cash drain. So I think this is about money.
Now we as breeders really don't have a problem with making everyone accountable to meet the standards for the Animal Welfare Act. We quite frankly want everyone to be better than that. and those who are failing in their efforts, we want them to get out of the business. We simply don't need them and besides they are criminals, but... and here's the problem Wayne, by you taking on the entire industry you leave us no choice but to defend the industry from the likes of you and your boys, a terrible waste of resources and time, when the solutions are so simple....
Here are a few facts you need to understand without breeders the American public would not be able to afford to buy a great purebred dogs. Americans love having and owning purebred dogs. No other country in the world has this resource available for their citizens and this American way of life is not going to die, just because you don't like breeders.
Already we are seeing an absence of breeders in specific breeds nationwide due to the expense of doing business. And this is the way our economy works people want good dogs and if you don't have what the market wants you will be hard pressed to remain in business. Not from your (HSUS) doings but from the economics. It is very expensive to have a kennel of any kind. And breeders like any business must stay focused on the ultimate profitability of the operation no matter how big or small, breeders will not raise dogs if there is no return for the thousands of dollars required and the long hours needed to care for the animals properly.
A misconception you try to promote is the lack of quality in dogs.. and you have tried to divide the breeding group in to segments... and for now saying the little hobby breeders are somehow OK while the big guys are really really bad. Please, the little guys have no resources and you know it, and they have no base to make good breeding selections from. Simply because they are too small.. For an outfit that wants to promote the well being of animals, you should know that breeding from a small community only creates more genetic disorders due to poor natural selection. To the contrary large operations have the best dogs, because they have the base from which to choose for the best breeding cycles. You should also know that any breeders who have poor quality dogs go out of business, due to infant mortality rate, compounded by small litters and then rejection from the buyers who want a dog that meets the standard.
All in all you have taken on a big chew.. Americans love their dogs and breeders will continue to provide them. The best approach is to spend our resources on education, People not laws or regulations change the world.. Education about raising dogs is a good idea for you and the HSUS, as often we see things written and promoted that are way off base and make no sense what so ever. And we need to educate people on responsible dog care and ownership. We also need to make sure those who are involved in breeding dogs know how to and meet the standards for care and facility management. All breeders not just a special interest groups, everyone who wants to raise a litter of puppies, needs to know the right way to do in the proper conditions.
We need to see you spending money for the animal shelters, not just promoting animal sales as you have been, put the money you raise to good work opposed to paying a bunch of lawyers and fat in house salaries
These are good meaningful goals... and if you guys really do care about the animals you would agree... or is it just about the money?

HSUS Tricks American Animal Lovers... Again
By: Joe Overlease
Advocate for Fair and Truthful Reporting
In recent weeks the HSUS, (Not your local Humane Society) has conducted a campaign of terror on unsuspecting dog breeders and pet stores across the United States.
The misconception by the average American is the HSUS is a legal entity having some form of federal authority. They in actuality do not, although they carry official looking badges.. the badges carry no authority in any jurisdiction.
The HSUS have arrived on private property with hidden cameras and have intimated owners to surrender their dogs in fear. They represent themselves as inspectors, but they have no authority to inspect anything. To the unsuspecting and un informed breeder this can be a tragedy beyond belief.
These people (HSUS Inspectors) conduct themselves like the Gestapo, they bully and intimidate, and they use any means of false reporting to discredit their target. By using selective photographs and often make comments about conditions and or events that are not even or have never occurred at the property they are targeting.
Recently the HSUS targeted a Pet Store in Southern California and made the public think they had been conducting business illegally. There report said the Pet Store was buying its inventory form "Puppy Mills". a puppy mill is a
unlicensed breeding facility. Pet stores are required to buy only from licensed and inspected USDA facilities. So they have not lied and they have not misrepresented themselves or their puppies
They the HSUS reported the store only bought puppies from individual breeders. In the business of raising dogs, the entire industry in made up of individual breeders, this is a cottage industry, where the majority of all breeders are small family operations. But to hear the HSUS report you would think Standard Oil is involved in some sinister plot. Again the Pet Store has done nothing wrong, They are buying animals from American breeders who are licensed and inspected and are legal in everyway..
This heavy handed smear tactic has caused a great deal of damage to this local business and the media, happily went along with the scam..
The HSUS report showed examples of kennels and called them "Puppy Mills", to the unsuspecting public they have no reason to challenge the report. But... The truth is most of the kennels shown are state of the art USDA design approved facilities and exceed all federal standards. It is not clear if the photo’s used were actually any of the suppliers of the store.
The HSUS is a organization that raises millions of dollars each year through a large secret layered organization of so called charities, they spend pennies
for the actual benefit of any animal any where in America. However, most people think when they give to the HSUS they are helping their local Humane Society...Sadly Not one dime goes to your local facilities as they are not even related to each other in anyway.
The next time you get asked to donate for the benefit of animals, you should make sure the money is in fact going to a shelter that really needs the support... Don't be tricked again by the HSUS .

Welcome to the world of the HSUS and Animal Rights. This story is about the fact no one has broken the law. But the HSUS will stop and take any means necessary to make a media sensation. No matter the cost.
The report said the kennel smelled of urine... according to whom? Is there a state law on how urine should smell, Where was the reporter standing . When "she" defined the urine in here report. Was "She" and her so called daughter down wind from the septic system? "She" failed to say... The state inspectors job is to write a quality report and do a good visit when he is on the property. Little things like air exchangers in the kennel buildings just as in a restaurant sometimes fail... that was the case almost three years ago the problem had been repaired. I can't help but to notice the breeder wasn't asked either. and how about the sharp points? When dogs are housed on a wire floor system the metal becomes fatigued, are we speaking on one broker wire or thousands?
On further investigation the report the reporter was referring to was almost least three years old!
The reporters or so called investigative reporters are two women, we have their names and their addresses. They did not enter any of the buildings and we not allowed on the kennel property property... So I guess at the end of the day they best have deep pockets.. ...
Shame on you girls... you just can't go around and make up stories but I am sure you will find what the the cost of tuition is soon. But we will leave that to the lawyers... I think it is a great case.
Folks this is America, were we have the right to pursue happiness, it's guaranteed by the constitution. These people are honest hard working people and have done nothing wrong.. We are also promised due process where our accusers can be met face to face. The little weasels have violated the entire basis of the laws of our country..
I am appealing to all Americans to stand up to these outrageous acts of terror and demand these Gestapo tactics be stopped by HSUS and their hired thugs.
